Join this programme, and take the first steps towards re-engaging with employment. As part of the enrolment you will be assessed, and a timetable for the course will be created based on your individual learning plan.
Develop soft skills to increase confidence with interviews, setting career pathways, advice on employment issues, health and safety in the workplace, employability skills, and more.
Ignition – Work & Study Skills is available in either Henderson or Māngere. Just let us know which you would like when you apply online.
This programme helps students develop the skills and confidence they need to start or return to work.
Over (up to) 16 weeks, students will receive hands-on support, training in workplace skills, and guidance to help them find employment or continue with further study.
The course includes both group activities and one-on-one mentoring, along with industry-specific training to prepare students for the workforce.
To join this course applicants must be aged 18 or older and of Pacific descent.
You must also be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident, and either unemployed, employed part-time or looking for a career change.

You will learn
In this course, you’ll receive support that is specifically designed to help you as a Pacific person succeed in finding and keeping a job. You’ll learn how to overcome barriers to employment with care and training focused on helping you reach better job outcomes.
You’ll connect with employers who offer opportunities that match your skills and experience, and you’ll get help with managing workplace expectations, particularly from a cultural perspective. If any misunderstandings arise, you’ll have support to resolve them.
You’ll gain the skills needed to succeed in your career, and if needed, you’ll be referred to other professional services to help you along the way. This course will give you the tools and support to build a sustainable and successful future.
